This video was my final project for MUSIC 536 (Transcription and Analysis) at University of Washington (March, 2011). It was created using Word, PowerPoint, Audacity, and Windows Live Movie Maker. My philosophy was: use Western notation when it is useful, discard and find alternatives when it is not. Above all, I wanted to make sure that people from various musical backgrounds could make sense of my analysis. While it would be too time-intensive for me to revise this project to reflect my current skill level, it is still reflective of my conception of musical instructional design. I chose these examples based on feasibility – I could easily identify and transcribe the sample material.
Note: Some adult language in video.
